Ship It!
Scheduler allows you to do the following:
- Create Train Graphs
("string" diagrams) for Your Model Railroad (see sample below)
- Edit Schedules in Graph Mode (change
time, towns, add stops)
- Display a Fast Clock
- Layout Design - Calculate
Time/Speed/Distance Between Towns
- Set up Groups of Trains to Turn On
and Off Inside Ship It!
- Create and Test Alternate Schedules
by copying trains and graphs
The program uses Ship It! train schedules, or
it allows you to create new schedules - this allows it to function as a
stand-alone program in addition to sharing the Ship It! data.
There are 4 ways to edit
your graph:
- Change arrival or departure times. Click on the vertex (corner) of
any train line (see the graph above). Then click again where you want the
corner moved to (you can only move it horizontally). The graph is updated and the train
schedule is changed to the new time.
- Change distance between towns. Click on a
horizontal "town" line. Then click (move your mouse vertically)
where you want the town line to be. The distance between towns will be
updated to the new distance. This feature is primarily for layout design.
- Change the town that a train stops at. Click on a train line that
is horizontal (it will be on a town line). Next click on a new town line. This is where you
want the train to stop at instead of the other town. The train line will
be moved to the new town and the schedule will be updated.
- Add a Schedule Stop. First click on a train line. Then click on the line for
a town that intersects the train line. A schedule stop will be added at
this location, with a default layover time of thirty minutes (if there is
time). You can then drag the corners of the line to adjust the timing of
the schedule stop if desired.
Note: You
cannot create a train schedule from scratch using the graph, but you can come
very close to it. If you are creating a turn, create three stops (first, last
and middle). If you are not creating a turn, create two stops. Then add stops, move stops, change
times, and massage the schedule into shape using options 1 through 4 above.
When you are finished, you can adjust the schedule in the update form if
desired.

Alternate Schedules - and save them for running different variety of operating
sessions!
For Layout Design! - Use the distance calculator below to
determine the optimal distance between towns based on your operational scheme.
You can enter data in any of the formats below: real seconds, fast minutes,
real feet/meters, short miles/kilometers, and speed. The data is then
recalculated for the other fields. Change train speed and see what is does to
time and /or distance!
Select the Best Fast Clock
Ratio! - Use the fast clock calculator below to select your scale and determine
a fast clock rate. the text in the bottom of the screen updates as you change
the ratio using the spin box. The graph also helps you select a ratio because
it displays train speed between towns.
Note: Scheduler is 32 bit only,
which means it will not run on Win 3.1
